Kazakhstan plans to vigorously develop the oil and gas chemical industry

Kazakh News Agency, Nur Sultan, March 5, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Nogayev said at a ministerial meeting that day that as new projects for the production of aromatics, oils and polypropylene are put into production, the output of Kazakhstan’s oil and gas chemical products is increasing year by year. increase. In 2020, the output of oil and gas chemical products will reach 360,000 tons, which is four times the output in 2016. Among them, the proportion of export products is as high as 80%. Currently, Kazakhstan has five factories producing lubricants, polypropylene, methyl tert-butyl ether, benzene and p-xylene, with a total designed capacity of 870,000 tons, but the actual operating rate is only 41%. It is planned to increase the output of oil and gas chemical products to 400,000 tons in 2021.
Nuo emphasized that President Tokayev put forward the task of accelerating the development of oil and gas chemical production at the enlarged government meeting, and asked to create conditions for attracting potential investors. In order to implement the President’s instructions, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan plans to formulate a “National Project for the Development of Oil and Gas Chemical Industry by 2025″ within this year to promote industry development and solve existing problems, including providing sufficient raw materials for oil and gas chemical projects, establishing oil and gas chemical industry clusters, and realizing Industrial upgrading, etc. At the same time, the government will sign a separate investment agreement with investors based on the specific requirements for the implementation of oil and gas chemical projects.
Nuo said that through the above measures, it plans to build 5 new oil and gas chemical plants by 2025, including the Atyrau state with an annual output of 500,000 tons of polypropylene project; Atyrau state with an annual output of 57 million cubic meters of nitrogen and 34 million cubic meters of compressed air Industrial gas project; Shymkent City with an annual output of 80,000 tons of polypropylene and 60,000 tons of gasoline additives project; Atyrau Prefecture with an annual output of 430,000 tons of polyethylene terephthalate project; Uralsk City with an annual output of 8.2 10,000 tons of methanol and 100,000 tons of ethylene glycol projects. After the above-mentioned projects are completed, by 2025, the output of oil and gas chemical products will reach 2 million tons, an increase of 8 times over the current level, which can attract US$3.9 billion in investment for the country. The production of basic oil and gas chemical products will lay a solid foundation for the development of deep processing of oil and gas, which is in line with the national strategy of realizing economic diversification of raw materials and technological progress.
