The Central Bank of Congo (DRC) said on Wednesday that as of 2020, Congo (DRC)’s cobalt production was 85,855 tons, an increase of 10% over 2019; copper production also increased by 11.8% year-on-year.
When battery metal prices plummeted during the global new crown pneumonia pandemic last year, the world’s largest cobalt producer and Africa’s largest copper miner suffered heavy losses; but the strong rebound eventually allowed this country with mining as a pillar industry to increase production.
Statistics from the Central Bank of the Congo (DRC) show that copper production will reach 1.587 million tons in 2020.
Copper prices have soared to their highest point in the past 10 years; and cobalt has also shown a strong recovery momentum.
